
A brief history
Gress Gruppen originated from the SR Group (SAS/Rica), a purchasing collaboration formed in 1994. In 1997, five major hospitality and catering companies - Gate Gourmet Norge, Rica Hotels, Eurest, SAS International Hotels Norge, and Scandinavian Service Partner formalized their partnership by founding Gress Gruppen AS. Gress name contains of the first letter from each of the founders.

These companies jointly established Gress Gruppen AS in 1997.
Today, Gress Gruppen is a leading strategic purchasing alliance for large-scale hospitality businesses in Norway, offering digital procurement solutions and extensive supplier networks. Gress Gruppen AS is owned by Compass Group, Radisson Hotel Group, and Scandic Hotels.

Startup
SAS International Hotels Norge AS, the Rica hotel and restaurant chain, and Scandinavian Service Partner are entering into a formalized purchasing partnership under the name SR Group.
1994
Launch Gressnett
Gate Gourmet Norge, the Rica hotel and restaurant chain, Eurest, SAS International Hotels Norge, and Scandinavian Service Partner are establishing the limited company Gress Gruppen AS, and Gressnett is being launched.
1997
Agreement
GRESS enters into a cooperation agreement with Thon Hotels and Norlandia Hotels & Resorts, and the first collaboration agreements with other players in the institutional catering market were signed.
1999
Horecamarked AS established
GRESS established the subsidiary Horecamarket AS, in collaboration with Millum AS, to develop an e-commerce portal for online trade.
2001
Sister in Sweden
Radisson SAS, Norlandia Hotels and Resorts, Rica Hotels, and Strömma establish the sister organization Innkjøpsgruppen in Sweden.
2003
Hurtigruten joins Gress
A cooperation agreement is signed with Hurtigruten.
2006
Welcome to Norlandia
Thon Hotels withdraws from the collaboration, and a new cooperation agreement is signed with Norlandia Hotels & Resorts
2008
Torghatten agreement signed
A cooperation agreement is signed with Fosen (Torghatten Nord).
2009
Scandic arrives
Scandic Hotels acquires Rica Hotels (formerly the Rica hotel and restaurant chain) and joins the collaboration.
2014
New agreements
The agreements with Hurtigruten and Torghatten are extended. A new cooperation agreement is signed with NHG Management (formerly Norlandia Hotels & Resorts).
2015
On the move
Gress moves to Skøyen
2017
New faces
Tor Tennvassås becomes the new director of Gress Gruppen. GRESS signs a new wholesale agreement with Reitan (now Kolly). The agreement also includes more than 120 contracts with industrial suppliers. The restaurant group Bitastad joins GRESS, bringing in chains such as Jordbærpikene, Sabrura, Big Bite, Kompis, and SOT.
2021
New methodology
GRESS implements a new methodology—Gress Methodology—along with supporting software tools. The hotel chain Heimr Collection AS becomes a member of Gress Gruppen AS. Gress moves from Skøyen to Bryn in Oslo
2022
New record
GRESS hosts the largest Gress Trade Fair ever, with approximately 1,800 attendees.
